EVOLVING BACK TO GAMES

We have now been back on the field through our Surf Camp sessions for two months and we can see the joy in our players and coaches daily. We are thankful to be in San Diego County as many of the surrounding clubs have not had access to fields or the support of their counties to return to play.  We also appreciate the flexibility of our families, as June and July are months that we don’t traditionally train.

Our coaches have been able to provide incredible sessions with the intention of moving slowly closer to normal practice sessions when we are allowed to do so. As always, our number one priority is maintaining our safety protocol with the health of everybody in mind.

At this moment, we do not have clearance to play games in California. All of our leagues – ECNL, ECNLR, and Presidio have pushed the start of the league season back to early October. Further, Surf Cup has been delayed until the second half of September to better align with county restrictions and the timing of league play.  We believe the State and County will loosen the current policy in phases with full contact training followed by gameplay. Please rest assured that any updates that we receive, that brings further good news, will be passed on to the Surf Family immediately.

As we continue to navigate through these difficult times, we do continue to appreciate your support and patience. We continue to request that the safety protocols remain in place, that you remain in your cars, and that players come onto the field when invited to do so by a coach. Also, we request that you do not gather outside of your cars and that if you do need to leave the vehicle at any stage you must wear a face mask. So far your support has helped create a safe environment for our kids and we are thankful for your willingness to follow these instructions consistently.

Finally, we want to share our joy in seeing the kids on the field enjoying the sport they love. The time to play games is on the horizon and that will be a special moment for all of us.  Thanks again for your support and patience, look forward to seeing all of you at the field!

As always,

Go Surf!
