Surf WPSL Finishes in 2nd Place

Congratulations to the SURF WPSL team that finished in 2nd place in their inaugural season, just behind the San Diego SeaLions, in the San Diego Division. Despite beating the SeaLions 5-3 in their last league game and a record of 6-1-1, our Surf team fell just 2 points short of making the 2019 playoffs.

Surf was one of the 29 expansion clubs added to the WPSL for the 2019 season. “With over 15 returning Surf players, we were able to offer an opportunity to our current players and alumni to continue playing in an elite summer league” said Coach Kate Norton. “I’m very pleased with our first season in the WPSL. Our players were able to adjust to playing with new players and created a competitive environment at training every week! We had success on the field as we were able to beat some really great teams. The results from this season give me hope for future WPSL seasons for our Surf girls” added Norton.

We hope everyone was able to get out to one of our WPSL games and see our Surf team in action. Thank you to all of our younger Surf players for being a part of this incredible experience, we LOVED showing our youngest Surf players what hard work and dedication to our sport truly looks like!
